What to do before Separation or Divorce

03/19/2021 4:59 AM

Not everyone has been blessed with a fairy tale-like love story. There are many out there that are struggling to make things work. Most started their relationship truly believing that it will last a lifetime.

The truth is marriage can reveal the best and the worst in one another. How selfish or selfless one can be. Which you only get to see after years of living with the person you married. The question is, when there is no choice but to go on separate ways can you really make it?

I truly believe that it is harder to recover from a broken marriage if you end up penniless or financially unstable especially if you are to be a single parent.

#1 consideration is that you are financially equip.

- Minimize your expenses.

- Settle all your debts beforehand

- Open a savings or high yielding account under your own name. Which your partner is not aware of.

 - Build up your emergency funds, at least enough money for 6-12 months. You may need to list down all your expenses to see how much you usually need in a month.

- If you will be able to buy a property make sure that you don't name it to yourself. You can either name it to your parents or siblings. Just make sure that everything will be well-documented. If you have an insurance, update your beneficiary as well.

- Also, have a retirement plan for yourself. The sooner, the better.

#2 Your Mental Health

Separation can be mentally and spiritual challenging. But you have to set aside your emotions to make wise decisions.

Who are you living for? Do you have a child or a family who will be deeply hurt with what you are going through? Be strong for them.

Be near to those who are genuinely concern about your well-being. Depression can attack even the strongest people. Women tend to blame themselves for failed marriages.

All these negative thoughts can cripple you and prevent you from planning ahead.

If you have a children, securing them will have to be your utmost concern.

2022

Exactly, a year and a day later. It all happened really fast. Though, I was somewhat preparing for this. It still came in as a surprise. The main reason? Not answering a call properly.

Let me correct what I've written here a bit.

With regards to debt, don't let your spouse use your credit card and also make purchases or loan using your name. Never let them use your life savings as well. And if they tell you that paying your monthly social security or 401K is selfish. Leave them.

The Case of Mayor Jovit Reyes

Mayor Jovit Reyes

Mayor Jovit Reyes

Mayor Jovit Reyes died last February 02, 2020 after battling with diabetes for years. Now, his daughter is crying for help. With the lost of the Town Mayor, the number 8 Councilor position has been left vacant. It was first expected that the wife of the said Mayor will fill up the position but now there are speculations that the rival of Mayor Jovit, former Mayor Oscar 'Popoy' Rafanan is also applying for the position as a Town Councilor. Up to this moment, authorities seem to be undecided as to whom shall take the position.

Apart from this, Ms. Szai Reyes also pointed out that the terminal leave for 2014, benefits and any other financial assistance from the Municipality of Pangil, Laguna has not been given yet. It is said that the cases filed against Mayor Jovit by his political rivals is the main reason as to why the deceased Mayor was not able to claim his benefits since 2014.

Szai Reyes posted a video on facebook hoping that their case will reach proper authorities. The video is now getting attention and has more than 36k+ views to date.

- Szai Reyes

How to Prepare for a Job Interview in the Philippines

The reason why a person is being interviewed is to know if they are the right one for the job. The employer wants to know more about you. So, try to share relevant information about yourself that will also give you an advantage to get the job.

1) Review your CV

    - Most of the interviewers will based their questions on your CV.
    - If you did not work for a while. you need to construct a perfect explanation as to why you haven't been working. Make it positive like moving to a new place, taking a Masteral, or taking care of a relative.

2) When asked to "Tell something about yourself."

Remember to write something about yourself beforehand then memorize it.

     - Start with your name, age, where you were  born, parents & their work, how many siblings you have. A family-oriented person is more likely to be hired. Be positive as you tell something about your family irregardless of your situation maybe. Like if your parents are separated, say something good about the ones that are taking care of you.

     - Your educational background. If you haven't finished College yet, that can still work to your advantage especially if you have been a working student.

Even if you have already finished college, it will still be a plus if you have taken short courses in the past and still plan to take one in the future. This will show that you are still willing to learn or trainable.

    - Your previous work. Yes, all of your work experience. Summarize it. Make it concise. Just get all the important details about your previous work.

3) Ready your answers for the commonly asked questions like,

Why should we hire you?
 -  You can based this on your previous work experience.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?
 -  Turn your weakness into a strength, "My weakness is that I tend to be too kind, I always find goodness in others which can be abused at times." If asked why? "When someone is asking for help, I find it hard to turn them down. So, I sometimes sacrifice my own needs."

How do you see yourself 5 years from now?
 -  Best answer will be, "Still in the Company and promoted, I hope." Hoping for a promotion means that you are looking for a long term job.

What was the hardest situation you faced in your previous work?
 - These can be the complaints you encountered and how you solved it. Always end it with something you've learned from the said situation.
 - "Resigning." You may also say this, especially if the reason why you left the previous company was to take care of your family, move to another place and other similar reasons.

4) Ask for relevant questions

To do this, you need to learn about the company. Like, if it is a big company you can ask them how many branches they have and if there are any plans to open other branches anytime soon.

You can actually make your answer sounds like you've really researched details about the company. This will indicate that you are really interested in working for them.

Ask how long will it be before you will know about the result of the interview and who should you call, if you want to follow up on this.

WHAT SHOULD YOU WEAR IN THE INTERVIEW

What to wear will depend on the company. To be sure, don't forget to ask the HR personnel you receive the call from. Once you know what the dress code will be, don't forget do the following as well.

- Boys, should look neat. Get a haircut, clean those nails, spray some perfume.
- Girls, proper hairdo, avoid high lights on your hair & shocking colors for your nails.
Make up and nail colors should be earth tone.

For your advantage, observe what their personnel looked like. Make your looks somewhat similar to those working for the company.

Wear a watch. This will make you look organized.

Wear a smile on your face.

HOW TO CARRY YOURSELF IN AN INTERVIEW

It is normal to feel nervous in an interview but make yourself look confident. By doing the following:

- Sit properly. Don't slouch.
- Maintain eye contact. This will show sincerity in your answers.
- Smile. This will make your interviewer at ease as well.
- You voice should be audible & modulated. The interviewer should be able to hear and understand your answers. Once you have written everything that might be asked on the interview try listening to yourself as well. The important thing is that you will sound credible and confident.

ONE LAST REMINDER, Don't be late on the interview. For an interviewer, first impression really last. So, don't be late.

I hope this helped you a lot.

Things to Consider on Your First Job in the Philippines

This is dedicated who is just about to apply for their first job after graduating from College.

1) JOB ITSELF

Does it have anything to do with your course? Is it something that you are really interested get into. Are passionate in learning more about your work and the people that you will be working for?

Do you see yourself being promoted in this company?

2) LOCATION

The nearer the place, the more comfortable it will be for you. Being close to your workplace will also lessen your transportation expenses.

3) DAILY EXPENSES OR WEEKLY EXPENSES

After considering the location, know your expenses. This is specially if you're planning rent a place. Ask yourself, if you can really afford to rent a place when it's you're first time to work.  Now, if you are one of those lucky ones that are still able to get a job while living with your parents. Then take this time, to check how much you may give to your parents to help out with the monthly expenses.

4) OFFICE UNIFORM/ATTIRE AT WORK

Will the company a uniform or are you left to decide what to wear. It is always a plus, if your uniform will be provided by the company. This mean that you don't have to spend a dime for your clothing at work.

Another thing is, is it comfortable to wear? Comfort is always an important thing to consider. Knowing that you will be in that clothing most of your day then it should be something that you are at ease with.

5) SAVINGS

Remember this,

It is NOT about how much you earn, but how much you save that will set you apart from others.

You may just be in an entry level in your job but if you're spend your money wisely this will be an advantage for you.

WHY DO YOU NEED TO SAVE?

Even though you are living with your parents, you are actually on your own now. This is the beginning of your journey into independence.

Your are simply their to guide you and teach you how you may go on your way. Learn from what they went through.

You'll need the savings to support yourself if in any case, your first job doesn't work. Knowing your expenses will enable you to know how much you need to survive while waiting for the next job.

Save to invest. The investment that I'm talking about is not the type of investment that promises fast returns. It can be a TIme Deposit, Mutual Funds, Insurance or Dividends that may be offered in a company you're be working for. Anything that can secure a better future for you.

ONE LAST REMINDER:

You will not understand it now, but remember to 'NEVER' sign as a co-maker for anyone at work. One mistake will take away all the money you work hard for.

Proverbs 6:1-5
1 My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, if you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger, 2 you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth. 3 So do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor’s hands: Go—to the point of exhaustion—and give your neighbor no rest! 4 Allow no sleep to your eyes, no slumber to your eyelids. 5 Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.

Being a co-maker means that you agree into paying somebody else's debts in case they resign, it is simple as that. Although, some will tell you that it's just for documentary purposes. Believe me, it's not. It is legal and binding. There is nothing you can do but to pay up once the principal borrower resigns.

Good luck on your first job!

Pregnancy and Adoption

It is every woman's dream to get pregnant. I've been in this quest for more than 6 years now. I've been going to different OB's for the longest time and I find it all so stressful. Though there is this OB that has informed me and my husband to take Glutathione as a supplement this is because my husband had to go abroad for 9 months. Nevertheless, I've still continued on reading blogs and countless forums of ladies out there wanting to have their own little angel.

We've started taking Max GXL (Glutathione Enhancer) for more than a year then switched to C24/7 then added Herbalife Nutrition. Aside from consulting doctors, we still try to live a healthier life.

Since it has been known by few of our friends and neighbors that we've been trying to have a baby. We've been offered a baby three times. The first baby was sadly sold for a price to someone else. Second, my husband is abroad while I work in a retail store, no one will be left at home to take care of the baby. Recently, a couple in the church shared their experience in adopting a child through DSWD. The processing will take about a year but it is better to do things the right way.

Considering all of these, somehow pregnancy and waiting for a child to adopt are just the same. They can both break your heart when things don't turn out the way you hope it to be.

Now, that I'm working at home and only accept project-based jobs. This is the perfect timing.

To consider adopting a baby is never a sign of giving up. It's our way of giving a child a better chance in life. So many times I've cried over unwanted babies that has been aborted or thrown into the trash. I believe that there are a lot of couples out there wishing to hold a child into their arms. No one should wait until they're bearing years is over before taking such steps. And now, we are given that opportunity I just hope that this will be positive this time.

Valentine's Day Dilemma

February is known to be the 'love month.' Love is in the air, heart is everywhere. Everyone is expected to show their love for one another.

Surely, this will benefit a lot of businesses, restaurants, flower shop, movie houses and the like.

On the other side of it. Is that it create a lot of expectations. With us ladies, imagining how that special day will be. Our partner taking us out on a date, giving a bouquet of roses or chocolates. Great if it happens just the way you imagined it but what if, it doesn't?  How will it be then for you?

Women are different from men. We don't think alike, men are about facts while we based everything on how we feel. Feelings that can get hurt when our expectations are not met. Just like the expectations Valentine's Day creates.

We, as women also expect that our men have plans during Valentines. Coming from a family with a father who is very expressive over his love for my mother. I, somewhat expected the same from my husband. For our case, it's the other way around. So this Valentine's Day, I bought him a blue rose and booked a vacation in Nasugbu, Batangas.

Crazy, but love is a two way thing. If you're partner can't do what you expected of him then why not plan it yourself? You'll get the same result and have the opportunity to express your love for your partner just the way you would want him to do so.

Helping Others with Scraps

Some say that in helping others you are also help yourself. Years ago, I've met Aling Nelia, a mother of 11 kids. She collects scraps in our neighborhood. There was never a single day that I didn't see her smile. She has been very positive despite of her situation.

After learning that she and her family is getting their livelihood from scraps. I've started saving her the scraps which she can still sell rather than throwing them into the trash. This way I am able to help out without spending a penny.

I've also started asking myself what else I can give. When I look at my house, I've realized that I have too much clutter, stuff that I bought but I never used. So now, I am learning to keep it simple. Stop buying things that I don't need, and to give as much as I can for this is the very reason why we've been blessed.

Now, if you think that you can't help just because you don't have enough money. You're wrong. Complimenting other people, giving out encouragements, sharing your knowledge, giving out the things you don't need can go a long way.

Think of what you can do today.

The New Kopiko BLACK 3 in ONE with 25% More Content

In the past few months, I've been drinking less coffee than I usually do. But with the latest Kopiko Black, I find it hard to resist coffee.

I've joined a Bible Group in our subdivision, during one of our meetings the host offered us Kopiko Black. I've been hooked ever since. It's now part of my grocery list.

Me and my husband maintains a 150-calorie diet in the morning while Kopiko Black has 110 calories. The good thing about coffee is that the coffee itself doesn't have calories on it and it can actually help you burn fats and be energized the whole day.

I always add coffee on our morning shake & afternoon shake. One Kopiko Black is enough for my Banana Shake which is good for two less the optional ingredients. This way I can still enjoy the taste of coffee less the guilt

When we don't have enough time in preparing the our banana shake (at times I'm just being lazy especially when it's early in the morning). We just drink a cup of coffee. It is always best to enjoy a cup of coffee with the one you love.

If you're a coffee addict like me. Better try this now. I'm sure you're going to love it

How We Saved Up on Turbocharger Repairs for Hyundai Tucson CRDI

Last December, my husband accidentally left the radiator cap open. Our car was working fine but problem arises after this incident. We have already spent over P20,000.00 for repairs and parts replacement. And this January the turbocharger broke.

The technician we spoke to informed us that an oil change should have been done on the Tucson after the car repairs were made due to the overheat. This may have somehow prevented that turbocharger from failing.

The car broke down near a local technician known in our town. He was able to diagnose the problem and informed us that we need to replace the turbocharger. Here in our country, there are only few repair shops that offer repair for turbocharger. There are some that post turbocharger repairs online but will charge you P30,000.00 - P40,000.00 that is just for rebuilding the turbocharger. You'll still need to hire another technician to install the turbocharger back to place.

Before spending over P30,000.00+ for turbocharger replacement. Watch this video and learn to do it yourself!

(Credits to the video owner)

With this video, we were able to save over P20,000.00+ on turbocharger and just ordered turbocharger cartridge core on eBay. We bought ours from Powertec Autoparts.

Have it shipped and received the parts after 7 days.  The best thing about this is, my husband was able to rebuild the turbocharger by himself.
